How Effective is the Kimkins Diet Program?

Millions of people who are overweight know that there is no magic pill that will make them lose the weight they want and instantly change back to the size they want to be. It is common knowledge that to lose weight and keep it off, a person simply has to eat less or exercise more. The simple formula is that you have to burn more calories than you eat. But what makes losing weight difficult is that most people do not know what diet plan to follow that will reduce their caloric intake while not making them feel like they are starving themselves to death. It seems like the more you tell yourself you cannot eat any more potato chips and cake, the more you crave those fatty, sugar-filled treats.

Just about everyone can name some of the popular weight loss and diet programs that are available, including Atkins, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach and Nutrisystem, to name only a few. But many people who have tried these and other diets are becoming frustrated with them and quitting, because, for one reason or another, they do not work as the dieters hoped they were going to. Maybe they were too complicated, or required too much work, or they made you drive across town to go to meetings, or other inconvenient factors.

Another frustrating factor is that many diets work, but they work too slowly for some people, who are not content only to lose one or two pounds per week. Especially for someone who is going to get married soon, or go on a vacation to a place where she will be wanting to look good in a swimsuit, many people want to lose weight not only permanently, but also as fast as possible.

One diet that claims to offer such a solution is Kimkins. The Kimkins diet was developed by a woman named Kimmer, who reportedly went from a weight of 318 pounds to 120 pounds in less than a year, and she kept the weight off. Kimkins is an online program that includes meal plans, food lists, recipes, and a support forum. Woman's World magazine, in a cover story about a Kimkins diet user named Christin, who lost 100 pounds in five months, referred to the Kimkins plan as "better than gastric bypass."

According to Kimmer, the Kimkins diet does not require doing a lot of extra exercise, such as working out at a gym, although an exercise calculator is one of the free weight loss tools available on the Kimkins website, so it appears obvious that exercising will make this diet meal plan even more effective.

If the Kimkins diet actually works as well as is indicated by the 420 testimonials that have been posted online, perhaps the fantasy of a magic diet pill may actually have some basis in reality.
